There are five European cities which have stood out to me during my travels. I would recommend visiting all five of these cities in your lifetime. Let’s take a look.

1. Paris
Whilst many people claim to have been disappointed by Paris on their first visit, I certainly was not. Paris is filled with sweet treats, trendy streets and beautiful artwork. I will never forget the butterfly feeling I felt in my stomach when I walked around a corner and saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time. It was the first place I ever travelled solo, and I had the most incredible trip. It has to be mentioned that I was absolutely obsessed with Ladurée macaroons. If you’re thinking of visiting, I would recommend visiting Paris in the springtime.
2. Amsterdam
Another city I travelled to solo was Amsterdam, and probably one of the safest-feeling cities I have ever visited. It is an extremely pretty place, filled with canals, bicycles, tulips and clogs. The people are extremely friendly and well-dressed. The most delicious treat I tried whilst there was the chocolate Stroopwaffels – they were incredible! I visited in November, but regardless of the time of year, Amsterdam makes for a perfect city break.
3. Rome
Rome is a magical city, with some of the best food in the world waiting for you. What I also love about Rome are the endless attractions and things to see. From the beautiful Trevi fountain to the incredible Colosseum. It is a city I absolutely need to return to in my lifetime. We visited Rome in July and it was extremely hot, but regardless it made for a lovely summer getaway.
4. Barcelona
Barcelona is a super fun city packed with things to do. For me, the shopping was elite, with a Zara practically on every corner. It is not a wonder the Spanish are so well dressed. The nightlife stays open until 7 am, and the beach parties go on even later. The city also offers magnificent architecture. A day trip to the fun town of Sitges is also highly recommended for your trip. I’d recommend going in September time.
5. Milan
Of course, two Italian cities have made it on my list. Italy is without a doubt my favourite country in the world. Milan is in the North of Italy, offering trendiness and sophistication, with the beautiful Lake Como just half an hour’s train journey away. On your visit to Milan, a day spent at the QC Termemilano spa is an absolute necessity. The spa offers a range of immersive rooms from unique saunas to rose rooms and even a storm room! Milan could be visited any time of the year, but we found that June was lovely as it was warm but not too hot for sightseeing.
Cities To Explore
Whilst there are hundreds of incredible cities to choose from in Europe, I would recommend adding these five to the top of your bucket list.
